Here is an important announcement for our listeners in Europe and North
Africa.
The European Union recently adopted a new standard for satellite digital
radio. Approved by the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI),
the new standard provides for the most efficient use of spectrum while
maintaining a high quality level of service for consumers in Europe.
With the adoption of this new standard, WorldSpace must alter its core
equipment technology in order for its receivers to be compliant.
Because of these changes, Sai Global Harmony on AfriStar's Northwest beam will
not be available from Nov 30 2007. The other beams of AfriStar will continue
to have SGH service.
When WorldSpace reintroduces its service in late-2008 in the Northwest beam,
beginning in Italy, the Company will integrate the ETSI standard into its
satellite radio equipment. Only receivers that comply with this standard will
be able to receive the WorldSpace service in Italy and other countries within
the Northwest beam of the WorldSpace AfriStar satellite.
